Installing DroidDeck takes about ten minutes if your phone meets the requirements. You download the APK from this page, install it like any sideloaded app, sign in to your Steam account, and install a game straight from your existing library. No PC involved, no streaming, no virtual machine. This walkthrough covers every step in order. If you have not checked your hardware yet, start with the DroidDeck APK homepage requirements, then continue here.
Before you start
- A Snapdragon phone with an Adreno 730 GPU or better, running Android 11 or newer.
- At least 8 GB of free space for the app plus your first game. Small indie games need 1 to 5 GB.
- A stable Wi-Fi connection. Game downloads are measured in gigabytes, not megabytes.
- Your Steam account credentials, plus access to your email or authenticator for Steam Guard.
The APK itself is only about 44.4 MB, so the download is quick. The real space cost comes later when you install games, which are full PC builds. If you are unsure whether your chip qualifies, our Snapdragon requirements guide shows how to check in under a minute.
Step 1: download the APK from this page
DroidDeck is open source, built in the open by the Droid-Deck project, and the verified APK is served from this site's download page. Open the download page in your phone browser and tap the download button once the countdown finishes. Your browser will warn you that the file type can harm your device; that warning appears for every sideloaded APK and is expected here because you are deliberately installing outside the Play Store.
Only download from this page. Random APK mirror sites sometimes repackage popular apps with added junk, and a fake build could steal your Steam credentials. Our DroidDeck safe download guide walks through verifying the file so you know it is genuine.
Step 2: install the APK
Open the downloaded file from your notifications or file manager. Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser or file manager; grant it just for this install. Tap Install, wait a few seconds, and you will see the DroidDeck icon in your app drawer. You can turn the install permission back off afterward for hygiene.
First launch asks for storage permission, which it genuinely needs to download and store games. Grant it. If the app asks for anything that seems unrelated to storing and running games, deny it; a game runner has no business reading your contacts or messages.
Step 3: sign in and install your first game
Open DroidDeck and sign in with your existing Steam account. This is the real Steam login, so Steam Guard will do its usual verification dance. Once you are in, you will see your actual Steam library, the same one you own on PC. Pick a game to start with, and choose a small one: a 2D indie title under 2 GB downloads fast and is the most forgiving test of your setup.
Tap install and let it download completely over Wi-Fi. When it finishes, tap Play. The first launch of any game takes longer than normal while shaders compile; expect stutter for the first minute or two, then things smooth out. Our DroidDeck first-launch walkthrough explains exactly what those first minutes look and feel like so nothing surprises you.
First-game rule: Make your first install a small, well-known indie game under 2 GB. It downloads quickly, is very likely to run well, and teaches you the whole flow before you commit 50 GB to a big title. Grab the APK from the official DroidDeck download page to begin.
